2nd Environment Conference

The 2nd Daikin European Environment Conference took place in the Brussels office on 10th September and was attended by 48 delegates from Daikin Industries Ltd, Japan, Daikin Europe NV and its affiliate companies.
The conference was organised in order to examine overall Daikin Group progress towards ISO14001 certification and meeting European environmental legislative requirements. Daikin Europe NV stressed the need for these challenges to be met without compromise to the creation of new business opportunities and the company’s lead over its competitors
Daikin could take note of following improvements:
- Progress towards ‘end of life cycle’ product recycling, compliant with EU directives and it’s own objectives.
- ISO14001 certification is achieved by Daikin’s German, Spanish and UK West affiliates and was anticipated by all affiliates by the end of financial year 2004.
Daikin Europe NV stressed that environmental protection required constant attention on the part of all those present. Moreover, national governments should be lobbied to ensure that new environmental laws are made only after careful study and consultation with the relevant industries.
Finally, delegates were presented with copies of the first Daikin European Environment Report, detailing the operation of Daikin Europe’s own Energy Management System in its manufacturing plants and the efforts made by all Group sales companies to promote environmental consciousness in their respective companies and countries.
