New compressor factory in Brno (Czech Rep.)

Daikin Europe nv (03/11/2004)

Following the start up of production at its new manufacturing plant in Plzen, Czech Republic, Daikin has unveiled plans for further heavy investment in that country. Work will begin in March 2005 of a new 16.000m2 compressor factory in Brno.

Chosen as a location due to its fast and easy overland communications with Plzen, the Brno area also benefits from a readily available labour force and offers a number of existing potential component suppliers. The plant will create up to 500 skilled jobs and operate on a 24 hour, 3 shift basis.

Further Heavy Investment by DaikinThe new plant will make an important contribution to Daikin Europe supply chain management, already improved by full time operation at Plzen and will reduce lead times still further when it comes on stream in December 2005.

The decision to invest initially in Plzen and now Brno is strategic and very important for the future. The Czech Republic should become an important production base for the fast growing markets of the European Union. The factory in Brno will initially manufacture swing compressors of between 1 and 3HP for the factory in Plzen and also the main European production base in Ostend, Belgium. Compressors can be considered as the heart and consequently the key, to successful operation of our air conditioning units.
